Fern Hawkins is Harry Maguire’s wife and comes from Sheffield. Her background includes a degree in physiotherapy, and she has also been linked to a floristry business called Saint Rose.
Hawkins and the England footballer began their relationship in 2011, became engaged in Paris in 2018 and married in 2022. They have two daughters, Lillie Saint and Piper Rose.
Her Sheffield roots and education
Hawkins is from Sheffield, the same city as Maguire. Their relationship dates back to June 2011, before the footballer’s later prominence with England.
The Sun reported that she graduated in 2017 with first-class honours in a bachelor’s degree in science and physiotherapy. Her education is distinct from Maguire’s football career: it should not be taken as evidence that she has worked for his club or treated him professionally.
Her relationship with Harry Maguire
Maguire proposed to Hawkins during a trip to Paris in February 2018. Hawkins announced the engagement on Instagram, describing it as a moment that made her exceptionally happy.
Later that year, she attended the World Cup in Russia. A photograph of the couple talking after England’s penalty shoot-out victory over Colombia became a widely shared meme. The image captures an earlier stage of their relationship, when Hawkins was Maguire’s fiancée.
Why their wedding has two dates
Hawkins and Maguire had a civil ceremony at a register office in Crewe, Cheshire, in May 2022, followed by a wedding celebration at Château de Varennes in Burgundy, France, in June.
The Standard reproduced Hawkins’s Instagram caption identifying the French celebration as 25 June 2022. She wrote: “25.06.2022 I married the love of my life”.
The two events explain why accounts of their marriage refer to both May and June. The Crewe ceremony preceded the French celebration.
England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and his wife, Megan Davison, attended the French event, with Davison serving as a bridesmaid.
Their daughters
Hawkins and Maguire have two daughters:
- Lillie Saint Maguire, whose arrival was announced in April 2019.
- Piper Rose Maguire, whose arrival was announced in May 2020.
At Piper’s birth, Hawkins shared a photograph of the couple with their newborn on Instagram and welcomed their second daughter.
Her physiotherapy background and floristry venture
Alongside reporting about her physiotherapy qualification, Hawkins has attracted attention for a creative business venture.
In April 2024, The Sun reported that she was setting up a florist called Saint Rose, with plans to supply flowers for weddings and parties. The report said the name combined parts of her daughters’ names: Lillie Saint and Piper Rose.
That report establishes the business plans described at the time. It does not establish the venture’s current trading status or whether Hawkins continues to practise physiotherapy.
